5 Things to Consider Before Hiring Kissimmee Movers

Moving can be exhausting and time-consuming. You must spend a lot of time packing and organizing. This is why you should hire a moving company on the big day. Professional movers will simplify your moving process, make the moving day run smoothly, and free up your time so that you can focus on other activities. The challenge is in finding a reputable moving company with reasonable price rates.

There are several factors to consider when looking for a moving company in Kissimmee. The type of move, the size, and the distance will determine which moving company is best suited for your relocation. You will need to decide whether you’re seeking a few extra hands to assist you, or if you’ll need a full-service moving company that comes in, packs your stuff, transports it, and unloads it. Remember, the more services or time you need, the more expensive the move will be.

Here are five factors you need to consider when hiring a moving company.

The five most crucial things to consider before booking moving companies and professional movers.

    Check reviews and references.

When hiring a moving company in Kissimmee, it is smart to ask a friend, family member, or real estate professional for a recommendation. If you know someone who has recently hired a moving company, reach out to them and ask about their moving experience. If they had a good experience, then you might want to consider going with the same company. You can always trust first-hand experience more than any online review.

If no one you know of has hired a moving company in the past, then you will want to check reviews for companies online. It’s the next best thing. It’s important to know what past customers are saying about the moving services you intend to use. Check if the companies are trustworthy, careful, courteous, punctual, and affordable movers.

It’s easy to find customer reviews for moving companies on websites like Google, Yelp, and HomeAdvisor. Also, most moving companies will have reviews on their website and on social media platforms. If the company’s reviews and other online reviews are satisfactory to your needs, then you might want to consider hiring them.

Get multiple quotes to compare prices.

This often goes together with the reviews and testimonials, as many people will note the fair amount they were charged for the services they received. You certainly would not choose on price alone, but often those with a great reputation have high rates as well. No one will rave about a company they feel overcharged them.

Accepting the first moving price estimate you receive is often considered to be one of the biggest mistakes when relocating. Some great advice for hiring movers is to get multiple quotes from various moving companies.

Once you end up having several moving price estimates, the easiest part for you will be to select the winning bid, right? Well, it’s not always that easy. Your decision about which moving company to go with must be based on more factors than just the price on the bottom line.

Professional moving services can differ in terms of quality, reliability, and rates. Remember to factor in the company’s reputation, any additional service costs, and the final price. A mindful comparison analysis of both movers and their price quotes is the best way to find the right moving company for your relocation project and your budget.

Check their years in business for experience.

An excellent track record over many years proves that a company knows what they’re doing and will treat your belongings with great care. Ask about specialty experience, like working in high-rise buildings or moving priceless heirlooms. These things matter and experience is always a great teacher. Does it guarantee nothing will get broken? Of course not. Accidents can and do happen, which brings us to our last point: license and insurance.

Check payment policy. Avoid 100% deposits.

Some moving companies may require a deposit if your move is large (like an 8-bedroom home or 20-unit office building). This is because it will require the movers to tie up multiple moving days and resources. But, for most regular-sized moves, movers shouldn’t require a deposit.

Trustworthy moving companies for regular-sized moves shouldn’t demand a large deposit before your move. But it all depends on how large the deposit is, some movers always require a very small deposit and that’s ok. But most moving companies bill you once the job is done. If your movers are asking for a hefty deposit upfront, then you might want to reconsider using them. Of course, if, based on your research, there is nothing amiss, you can ask them for leeway.

Also, when you’ve paid nothing or a small amount in advance, you have much more control over the company’s delivery period. Payment will incentivize the company to deliver your belongings as soon as possible.

    Beware of red flags

Regrettably, not all professional moving services out there are honest businesses, and some may try to swindle you. It is extremely important to be cautious when hiring packers and movers. This way you can stay away from deceptive attempts at moving fraud.

Extremely Low Estimate: The most prevalent moving scam is the “low-ball estimate”. This is a price quote that is significantly lower than the rest. In fact, the price is so low that it looks too good to be true. Well, It is! Deceptive movers use this tactic to secure more moving jobs, and then they increase the prices considerably once they have their household belongings in their possession. Make sure not to exceed the estimated price.

Not Licensed or Insured: You don’t want to hand over your precious belongings to any moving service that is not licensed. Most states require licensing, but a few do not for local in-state moving. A movers license is not just given out to anyone; a company must fulfill certain requirements to get that license. One of these requirements is insurance. Most of the legitimate moving companies are required to assume liability for the value of the goods they transport.

Blank Moving Contract: A reputable professional moving company will not force you to sign a blank contract. Get absolutely everything in writing. The mover’s estimate and any extra fees should be stated in the contract, as well as your pick-up and delivery dates. Read and understand your contract and make sure all your belongings are listed. You can’t file a claim for something that doesn’t appear on the inventory list.

Some quick questions to ask the moving company.

While the five questions above are essential questions to ask moving companies, they’re not the only ones. Here’s what else you should ask movers to ensure you hire the right moving company.

How long will the move take?

Most long-distance moves take anywhere from seven to 10 days. Local moves usually only take one day. Ask the mover for an estimate on how long it will take to move your belongings. Ask if they offer guaranteed delivery dates as well and full value protection insurance for your things. Make sure to take note of shipment tracking details.

What moving services do you offer? Will you pack specialty items, such as TVs and electronics?

Does the mover offer the moving services you need? For instance, do you need packing assistance, specialty item moving, or expedited shipping? Be sure to ask about the specific services you need. Most movers can handle packing specialty items. Just in case, though, we recommend checking that they have the right supplies, equipment, and experience and can handle the job.

Are there any potential charges I’m not already aware of? What additional moving supplies will I be paying for?

Pricing should be as transparent as possible. Make sure there are no hidden fees by asking about everything you’ll be paying for, including packing services, moving supplies, labor charges, and more. How can you save money if you do not know in the first place how much you must spend?

    Do you provide storage?

If you need storage before, during, or after the move, be sure to ask the moving company whether they offer storage services. Many but not all movers offer short-term and long-term storage options for customers. If you want this special service, you might have to engage multiple companies.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Some movers may charge you a fee to cancel a move reservation. Others may let you cancel a move without any penalty up to two weeks in advance. Be sure to ask the moving company about their cancellation policy. If possible, have them put this in writing. This will be helpful later should unexpected things happen, and you need to cancel your booking. Some moving companies offer an option where you can book them at a later date instead of a refund.

How do you handle claims and damages?

Be sure to ask about the company’s claims process to make sure it’s as uncomplicated as possible. At the risk of being repetitive, make sure the procedure is also in a written document. This would make it easier to file a claim for broken items.

    Conclusion

A smooth move requires some planning, a lot of careful packing, and choosing the right moving company to handle your belongings. Finding and hiring a good moving company requires considering a number of things and while the price might be the most tempting factor to make your decision based on, it’s important to consider other factors as well including their reputation as evidenced by testimonials and reviews, how comprehensive their insurance is, licensing, and how long they’ve been in business.

It’s important to know what questions to ask moving companies before you start the interview process. Write out your questions and be prepared to do a little research on a mover before hiring them for the job.

    FAQs

These are just some of the frequently asked questions we found common among readers. For more information, you can visit the mover’s FAQ page.

What should I do before the movers come?

Hiring a moving company isn’t about them coming and doing all the work. Even though moving companies have packing services, there are still a few errands you will have to handle by yourself. This includes decluttering and discarding things that you don’t want in your new home, disposing of flammable and other hazardous items, keeping heirlooms, jewelry, and other valuables with you, labeling boxes properly to avoid loss or damage, etc.

Should I help movers I hired?

You don’t need to share hands with the movers but make sure you or somebody else stays there to direct the moving company to where to place items and just answer any questions the movers may have. This will save time and money during your move.

What to expect when movers pack for you?

You can expect them to do it faster. They’ve had plenty of practice and experience. It would be normal to expect them to have a system that will make the packing process more efficient.

What questions to ask when moving?

Here’s a simple list of questions to ask your candidate moving companies:

    • How long has your company been in business?
    • Are you licensed?
    • What kind of insurance or “valuation” do you offer to protect my goods?
    • Do you have the required moving equipment to complete the job?
    • What type of deposits do you require?
    • What is your cancellation policy?
    • What steps do you take to prevent property damage?
    • What is your policy on specialty items?
    • What will happen if any of my items get broken or go missing?
    • How do you handle disputes and complaints?

Take some time to gather all the information you need and make it a point to communicate with each company you contact. Take the initiative and learn as much as you can before you make your final decision.

    Equip yourself

Furniture removalists Melbourne typically advise do-it-yourselfers to equip themselves with the proper tools before moving. Some of the most helpful equipment you can get are straps, dollies, and gliders. These are especially helpful for large and heavy furniture that you can’t simply pick up and move. You can create a make-shift ramp with some plywood and rope if necessary.

    Plan first

Even simply moving your furniture will require some planning to make sure you do it as efficiently as possible. Furniture removalists Melbourne also do this before going to your house and moving things. First, you need to measure your furniture to see if they can easily fit through any hallways and doorways. Then, declutter the path through which you and other people will walk through as you bring your furniture outside your house. Moreover, decide on which furniture will move out first and last.

    Furniture pads

Furniture foot pads are handy for heavy furniture like couches, tables, and chairs. They make it easy to move furniture around and also help prevent damage on the floors. Another type of furniture pads is a wrap or padding. They act like blankets that cover fragile furniture to avoid damage. They are cheap but they are significantly helpful during the moving process.

    Pack them properly

If you’re moving disassembled furniture, make sure to pack them properly. Use bubble wrap, styrofoam, and duct tapes to ensure they are secure during the move. Don’t forget to label them properly, too so you can easily locate the parts once you’re assembling them again at your new place. Moreover, you can take pictures of the furniture before you take them apart so you’ll remember which parts go together.

    Hire professional furniture removalists

If you want to save yourself time and physical stress from prepping and moving your furniture to your new home, hiring furniture removalists Melbourne will do the trick. They are professionals who are highly trained and reliable. Thus, you are ensured that your prized belongings are in good hands.

  • Relocating To A Home In A New Area: What You Need To Sort!

Relocating is a stressful time for your family. Whether it’s because of a job or family reasons, it can take a lot of organizing to ensure the whole move runs smoothly. Here are some things you must sort out when you are relocating to a new area.

You need to decide what you are taking

When you are relocating, you need to make sure you decide what you are taking to the new home. Some of your belongings may struggle to make the long distance across the state. Therefore, you may want to give them away to charity, or sell them online, before you make the move. You may want to ask the new owner of your home whether they want any of the items in the kitchen or bedroom. It might make you some extra money that you can then use to buy items for your new property. If you are taking stuff with you, you need to make sure it’s safely packed away so that it will survive the move to a new area.

You need to find a removals company who will move your belongings long distance

Another thing you must do when you are relocating to a new area is to find a removals company who will move your stuff for you. You will have to look online for interstate removalists who will safely move your belongings a long distance. You should read up about the company online to ensure they are a reputable business. As this article reveals, professional movers will pack your belongings with minimum breakage and full. Make sure you get two or three quotes before you choose one to go with so you know you are getting the best deal.

You need to find a new school, dentist, and doctors

When relocating to a home in a new area, you need to make sure you find a school near the property where you can send the kids. Make sure you check online to see what schools are in the area to ensure your kids are in the catchment area. You will also need to find a new doctor and dentists in the area near your new home. You should look online to find places where you can go and join up.

You need to find contractors in the new area

Another thing you need to know about relocating to a home in a new area is that you will need to find contractors in the area to help you get your home ready. You will need to look online for contractors such as decorators in the area who can start working on your home. It will help you get your home ready before you move your belongings down there.

Make sure you do research so you know exactly what will be around in the new area. You can’t just get an idea by visiting; you won’t get an accurate impression of the area. Therefore, read up online and ask the estate agent, so you are clued up before the move. Also, you need to check if there are any language or cultural differences if you are moving further away.

  • Easy Tips To Help You Move House

If you’ve decided now is the time to make a move, you’re not alone. Lots of people are looking for a fresh start at the moment. You might have a new job in a new town, or you might be hoping the kids can get into a really great school. Maybe you just want to be nearer to your extended family. Or perhaps your dream home just came on the market, and you’re ready with a cheeky offer! Here are some easy to implement tips to help you make that big move without the big stress:

    Affordable

One of the most stressful parts of moving house is the mounting costs. Make sure what you’re buying is affordable. You’ll need plenty of leftover cash to pay for the removals, the solicitors, the tax man, and the decorating. The deeper you get into the buying process, the more expensive it seems. Set yourself a realistic budget. Visit the property lots of times to really get an understanding of how much work you need to do to it to make it into your home.

    Removals

Pack early but pack smart. This means getting ready to go even if you have that little doubt in your mind that the sale will actually complete. Of course, sometimes things move so swiftly, you simply don’t have time to get organised. You can use a full service removal specialist like Bryan Stevens House Removals, or have a packing party with your friends. Pack for the new house rather than how you have each room now. It will make unpacking much easier!

    Decorate First

If you have an extra couple of days before you need to move in, why not get the place decorated first? If you’re keeping your current furniture, you can make colour palette decisions based on that. As you need to order flooring weeks in advance, you may prefer to wait to move in all your bulky bits and belongings until after it’s done. Of course, if your new place has plenty of storage options, this may not be an issue.

    Check Out The Neighbourhood

If you have kids, the prospect of a move can be really upsetting. They may have to leave their friends and school behind. And the security of their own bedroom will also be gone. But if you can show them all the great things your new neighbourhood has to offer, you may have some very happy kids after all. Check out the play parks, the community centre, and some great places to eat. What’s at the local leisure centre? Is there a cinema or kids play centre nearby? They’ll soon settle in when they get used to all the great things their new neighbourhood has to offer.

It can be one of the most stressful things you’ll ever do in your life. Or it can be just a minor hiccup on your way to lifelong happiness. Moving house doesn’t have to be a nightmare if you make a few preparations in advance. Enjoy your lovely new home.

  • What You Need To Do Before Moving Into Your New Home

Soon as we get the keys to our new property, it can be easy to move everything straight into our new home. But if you do this, it will be very hard to make any home improvements with your belongings there. Here is what you need to do before moving your stuff into your new home.

    Paint the walls

Once you have decided what you are doing with each room, you can decide how to decorate them. It’s a good idea to start painting the walls before you move your stuff in, as it’s never good to get paint on your sofa! Go to the store and get some samples for the walls in your home. Once you have found colors that you like, you can start painting the rooms. If most of the rooms are going to have to be painted, you may want to find someone to come and do it for you. It will save time and energy if they do it for you.

    Fit new flooring

You should also check if you need to change any of the flooring before you move your belongings into the home. Once you check which rooms need new flooring, you can get someone in to give you a quote. As we discussed before, you don’t want to make a mistake by getting cheap floor. It won’t last, and then will need to be replaced before long. You should also get a carpet fitter in to give you a quote on some carpets for your new home. You should ensure it’s sorted before you move in as you need to protect your feet.

    Clean house top to bottom

Another thing you should do before moving into your new home is to clean it from top to bottom. The home might have been left for a while if the owners have already moved into a new home. Therefore, it might not be as clean as it should be. If you haven’t got time to give it a good clean, you should arrange for someone to come in and give it a thorough clean before you move in with your family. Remember to go into places that might have been left such as the loft or basement and give it a good clean.

    Check the appliances in kitchen

You need to check the appliances in the kitchen are working before moving your stuff into your new home.  If you have arranged for your fridge freezer to come to the new home, and there is a working one already, you will need to arrange for yours to be sold instead. Once you know exactly what there is already in the home, you can have a look for long distance moving companies who can bring your stuff to the new property.

    Check the locks

Another thing you should check before moving into your new home is if the locks are working. If the locks are broken, they will need to be replaced to ensure you keep your property safe from intruders. You may want to change them anyway, so that the old homeowners don’t have access to your property. Get in touch with a locksmith who can do this quickly for you before you move into your new home.

Once the above has been done, it’s time to settle into your new home!

  • Expenses You Can Expect to face When You Plan a Move

The cost of moving can get pretty high, and there are a lot of different expenses you need to be aware of. If you can come up with ways of meeting these costs, you’re going to make the process much better.

    Removals Costs

The major cost you need to consider is the cost of paying for removals. You’re going to need to deal with paying for the costs of a removals van. You need to hire people to pack up and move your belongings to your new place. And this is going to be one of the big costs involved in your move.

    Gas

You also need to set aside a budget for gas for your car. You might be getting your stuff transported, but you still need to drive the family to your new home. And this is something you’re going to need to budget for. You might be driving quite a way, and you’ll have to pay for the fuel to get you there.

    Packing Supplies

Packing is hugely important because you don’t want to just throw all your stuff into the van loose. You’ve got to pack it up and make sure it’s all organized. So you need to make sure you spend plenty on getting the right packing supplies. These are important costs that are integral to the whole moving process.

These are just a few of the costs involved in moving house. And you need to understand that you’ve got to budget for these costs. Make sure you recognize that they are integral to the move and set aside budgets for them.

There are so many different things to think about, and in all the chaos it can be easy to make serious moving blunders. These can slow and complicate the process severely. I’m sure you don’t want to do this, so here are some of the worst moving mistakes you can make.

First of all, not checking the references of several moving companies. While most established moving companies will give you an adequate service, you have to be careful. In recent years, there’s been a huge rise in scams which use moving company fronts. Luckily, there are some simple ways to check you’re not going to be scammed. You should exercise extreme caution if the company is operating without a website. This is more or less a given for modern moving companies. However, not having any web presence makes scammers a lot harder to track down. Polished websites like the one from

Another big mistake is failing to ask your movers questions. Obviously, a moving company isn’t going to turn up offering any other service. However, you should still ask a lot of questions to make sure you’re getting everything you need. Get some estimates and find out how they draw them up. Find out exactly what their insurance will cover, and if there will be any extra costs for rendered services. Make sure to check their inventory sheet meticulously as well. If your household items are sharing space with another client’s, then it can be fairly easy for them to be left behind. I know you want to get it out of the way, but always read the inventory before signing. If you don’t nip this problem in the bud, it can mean all kinds of stresses further down the line.

Finally, not leaving yourself enough time to pack. You’re probably fairly organised, so you may have laughed at this point! However, loads of people manage to misjudge the time it takes to pack up everything in the house. As soon as you set a definite moving date, you should be packing. Do this little by little if you have the time, but make sure it maintains some kind of structure. Start off with all the things which you’re not going to need between now and moving day. All that junk in the attic with sentimental value are a great place to begin! Keeping the contents of different rooms together will also simplify unpacking on the other end. As you’re probably aware, packing is a long and tedious process. However, if you start now, it doesn’t have to be!

These three tips will save you from a lot of the stress involved in moving house. On the big day, keep a positive attitude, and keep thinking about that lovely new home!

  • Declutter Before You Move With These Top Tips

Packing up your home ready for a move can be a mammoth task. Each room in your current home has to be emptied and packed up before your moving day. This can take a long time to accomplish if you’ve lived in the same house for a long time and if you have children. But the process can be made far easier if you declutter beforehand. Many homeowners pack up and transport items they don’t need to their new homes. But doing this can cost additional time and money, that could be put to better use. To get your clutter under control before you move, use these top tips.

Keep your favorite or the one that is in the best condition and donate or throw away the rest. This will make you feel lighter while also reducing the amount you need to pack.

    Check your toiletries

Go through your bathroom cabinets and drawers to check your toiletries and beauty products. Remove any items that are broken, out of date or leaking. You should also get rid of items that have been opened but not used recently. Group specific items together to see if you have any duplicates too. • How to Pack Your Bedroom for a Move

When you decide to move you will definitely face some difficulties. The preparation is the most important thing when planning a removal. You have to make some plans for what you will pack last and open first. Packaging your luggage before the moving day will make the transportation a lot easier than rushing everything in the last moment.

Insufficient time is a bad advisor so you can make some moving checklist that will help you manage with the packaging without doing things incorrectly, because of the lack of time. Moving is not an easy process and it needs a lot of planning and doing it in advance will be at a good use to you.

When it comes time to pack your bedroom stuff you must do some list so as to choose what to take and what to leave? Definitely some things will be cheaper to buy new than transport to the new place. You can make a pre-moving sale where to sell the things that you won’t need anymore and you don’t want just to throw away.

Couple in new apartment with home sign

Get some packing boxes and bubble wrap so as to have where to put your luggage. It will help you with the safe packaging of your stuff. You may also choose not to buy these things. If you want to do it the cheaper way just look around for empty boxes in your home and use old clothes instead of bubble wrap to wrap your items. Packaging well your stuff will be a good thing to do, because there is a risk your stuff to fall and break in the moving van during the transportation.

A good tip on how to pack your bedroom especially the clothes is just to pre-pack them. If you’re moving through the summer – pack your winter clothes in advance or vice versa. The same you may do with everything you know you won’t use before the moving day – just pack it and put it away. It will save you a lot of time when you finally start with packing all the stuff that you’re actually using.

The clothes are the thing that will cost you a lot of time to pack for your moving house. Although they’re not breakable and finding them wrinkled is usually the worst damage that may be caused to them, your clothes need special attention when moving. To save you money, time, space and nerves you have two things that you must do: good preparation and packing. When the man with a van comes you must have packed everything and packed it well so as not find open and scattered boxes in the van after the transportation.

Once you’re ready with the packing, label all the boxes so as to know what they’re containing and when to open them. Remember to write “Fragile” on all of the boxes that contain your bedroom and other rooms’ breakable items.  When you’ve done with the relocation and you are already in your new home it will be a lot easier to open the boxes when you need them and to know in which room to do the unpacking.
